Pedal's LAMDA Code of Conduct

The midweek classes are, by definition, more demanding on the students although our ethos remains the same. Below are several key factors that students and parents alike should consider before taking LAMDA examinations.

Attendance - By far the most important factor when considering LAMDA exams. If you're not there, we can't teach you! Also we try to do group work for at least one term a year which makes good attendance vital. Of course we understand that things crop up especially where school commitments are concerned so if you can’t make it just let Jamie know in advance.

Preparation - Homework and preparation before class is necessary especially when students get to the higher grades. Obviously learning your songs or pieces is the most important aspect of this but there is also theory work to consider as you get higher up the grades.

Exam costs - Exam fees vary from £23.00 to £79.00 for the top grades so again you can see why attendance is important. At Pedal we take two exams a year.

Backing Tracks - Students are required to source their own backing tracks at their expense well in advance of their exams. Jamie is able to assist with this and if no track is available we can provide piano tracks. This must be done at least 4 weeks before the exam.

LAMDA has been recognised as an awarding organisation by Ofqual, the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations in England. For more information go to
